History

1994

Creation by Yasmina FILALI of the Foundation Orient-Occident during an initiatory journey in the footsteps of Saint-Exupéry “the flight of the sands” in Ouarzazate.

1995

Launch of the Foundation at a gala in Marrakech under the patronage of Naguib Mahfouz, Nobel Prize in Literature and in the presence of the Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish.

1996

The Foundation is recognized as being of public utility.
Creation in Paris of AFOOFRANCE, Association law 1901.

1998

Creation of Friends of the Foundation Orient-Occident in New York, USA.

1998 to 2000

Works at Yacoub El Mansour (Rabat), the concept of Yasmina Filali, created by the architect Noureddine Komiha, is a building which would be “a bridge between the two shores of the Mediterranean”.

2001

Opening to the public of the socio-educational center of Yacoub el Mansour in Rabat. 3000 members in 6 months.

2003

The Foundation is committed to perpetuating its action by establishing a development strategy, by reproducing its concept in other cities of the Kingdom, with an entrepreneurial vision. (Rabat, Oujda, Larache, Casablanca Sidi Moumen, Safi).

2004 to 2006

Inauguration of the two new socio-educational centers of the Foundation in Oujda, and in Casablanca.

2007

New orientations of the Foundation: opening of a vocational training center for tourism professions in Larache.
Strategic partnership with the UNHCR and opening of a reception center for refugees and migrants.
The Foundation organizes the 1st Edition of the Rabat Africa Festival.

2008

Human Rights Prize of the French Republic.

2011

Opening of the Atelier Migrants du Monde.

2009 to 2012

Strategic partnership with the OCP group in the Khouribga and Safi regions, creation of new programs for the youth.

2014

Opening of various protection apartments and emergency rooms in Rabat for the protection of minor refugees and girls forced into prostitution.

Support for the private and corporate sectors for the implementation of their CSR policy.

2014

Interculturality Prize of the Republic of Austria.

2015 to 2016

Consolidation of the partnerships with International Cooperation agencies and the major United Nations Agencies for Migration. Extension of the activities in Italy and France.

2016

Yasmina Filali receives the “Entrepreneur of the Year 2016” award from the prestigious Schwab Foundation in partnership with the World Economic Forum.

2017

Yasmina Filali obtains the Elissa-Didon Prize under the Med21 program, in partnership with the Foundation Tyr and the Tunisian Didon d’or Prize.
Launch of the Fondation Orient-Occident in Italy.

2016 to 2019

Participation in meetings of the World Economic Forum at the International level. Advocacy and awareness raising on migration and the work of the Foundation.

2019 to 2021

Launch of the Migrants du Monde Workshop in Italy.
Launch of the SOS Migrants platform during the COVID-19 pandemic.
